Nigerian singer Seyi Vibez has opened up on an early setback in his music journey, revealing how his desperation to join Wizkid’s Starboy Records at age 13 led him to fall victim to a scam.

In a viral clip making rounds online, the ‘Chance’ crooner recounted how he went on Google to search “How to sign to Starboy Record” in a bid to secure a record deal.

According to him, he found a phone number online and contacted the person, who demanded ₦10,000 as part of the signing process.

Determined to make his dream come true, Seyi Vibez said he sold his own phone to raise the money and sent it to the individual, only to later discover he had been duped.
“I had wanted to sign to Wizkid’s Starboy Record label at 13, then I searched on Google ‘How to sign to Starboy Record’ I saw one number, then I called the number. The person asked me to pay ₦10,000 and then I sold my phone and sent him the money.” – Seyi Vibez
