Sokoto East: APC Women Begin Grassroots Mobilization Ahead of 2027
Women stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the eight local government areas in Sokoto East Senatorial District have kick-started grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The move followed a strategic meeting convened by Hajiya Bilkisu Umar Ajiya, wife of the APC senatorial candidate for Sokoto East, Umar Ajiya.
The meeting was held at the Umar Ajiya for Senate 2027 Secretariat along Kontagora Road, Sokoto. It drew women leaders from Isa, Sabon Birni, Goronyo, Rabah, Wurno, Gada, Illela and Gwadabawa LGAs to discuss ways to boost women’s political participation and strengthen the party’s structure at the grassroots.
Speaking at the gathering, Hajiya Bilkisu said the meeting was aimed at deepening unity and coordination among APC women in the zone, and to create a platform for exchanging ideas on achieving their collective political goals.
She praised the women for their resilience and commitment during political activities and urged them to sustain the tempo beyond the election season.
According to her, unity and constant engagement at the grassroots remain critical to effective mobilisation and voter engagement.
“This gathering forms part of efforts to deepen women’s participation and coordination within the party as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections,” she said.
“Our strength lies in our unity and sustained engagement. We must remain connected with our people at the grassroots, because that is where effective political mobilisation begins.”
She thanked the stakeholders for honouring the invitation, noting that their turnout shows their readiness to remain active in the political process and work for the victory of APC candidates at all levels in 2027.
Prominent women at the meeting included the wives of the Sokoto State Deputy Governor, the Minister of State for Works, the State APC Chairman, the wife of the member representing Rabah/Wurno Federal Constituency, and the APC North-West Zonal Women Leader, among others.
