Ex-IGP Adamu Tells Opponents: Show Your Record, We’ll Show Our Ideas
The campaign organization of former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu (retd), who is seeking the governorship of Nasarawa State under the Social Democratic Party (SDP), says it will not be dragged into personal attacks ahead of the 2027 election.

Reacting to a recent comment attributed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, the Adamu camp said its focus remains on issues, policies and solutions for Nasarawa State.

In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by Otaru Douglas, Director of Media and Strategic Communications of the IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu Campaign Organisation, Adamu was described as a statesman who prefers to debate records and plans for the state rather than trade insults.

“His Excellency, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu (retd) is too decent, too accomplished and too statesmanlike to engage in a campaign of calumny with any opponent,” Douglas said.

According to him, the campaign will take Adamu’s experience, leadership credentials and policy agenda to voters across the 13 local government areas of the state, with emphasis on security, youth employment, economic development, education, infrastructure and inclusive governance.

“Our campaign shall be anchored on issues and progressive ideas on how to improve the lives of the people of Nasarawa State,” he said.

Douglas added that the electorate deserves to hear what candidates will do differently, not a contest of accusations and name-calling.

The organisation also urged Adamu’s supporters across the state to remain calm and law-abiding and not respond to insults with insults.

On the reported use of the word “sack” by the APC candidate, Douglas said the Adamu camp would not engage in a war of words over the expression, describing it as a political statement that should not distract from real issues.

Instead, he said the campaign is challenging opponents to present their records, programmes and plans and allow voters to decide.

He further called on all parties and supporters to maintain civility as the 2027 race approaches, warning that inflammatory rhetoric could shift attention from security, jobs, education, infrastructure and accountable governance.

“We are on a rescue mission to Nasarawa State, and nothing will distract us,” Douglas added.
