Troops Foil Cattle Rustling, Recover Over 500 Cows in Kaduna

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have foiled a large-scale cattle rustling attempt in Kaduna State and recovered more than 500 rustled cattle.

The operation was carried out by troops of Sector 1 on Monday, September 8, in Igabi Local Government Area, following a distress call from residents over rustling activities at Rugar Mande, Kurmin.

According to the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, the troops swiftly mobilised to the suspected withdrawal routes of the terrorists and mounted blocking positions.

“Our troops engaged the terrorists from multiple positions, forcing them to withdraw in disarray and abandon all the rustled cattle,” Danja said.

He confirmed that all recovered cattle have been handed over to their rightful owners.

Danja added that the success underscores the unwavering commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protecting lives and property and denying criminal elements freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.

He called on members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to help eradicate terrorist activities in the region.
