Ugochinyere Pledges to Sustain Lights Up Ideato Initiative
ABUJA – The member representing Ideato North/Ideato South Federal Constituency of Imo State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, has expanded his rural electrification drive with the installation of more transformers in communities across the constituency.
Ugochinyere, who chairs the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), said the installations were carried out under his Operation Light Up Ideato Project.
According to a statement from his media office, the lawmaker recently delivered 500KVA transformers and associated power infrastructure to Ogwume, Dikenafai and Akpulu communities.
With the latest phase, the project has now reached seven communities, including Umuopia, Obodoukwu, Abukwa and Umukegwu.
The statement noted that the initiative reflects Ugochinyere’s commitment to tackling grassroots infrastructure gaps and ensuring communities that have suffered prolonged power challenges are not left behind.
It added that Operation Light Up Ideato is not a one-off intervention but a continuous, community-focused programme, with more transformers to be supplied to other communities in need.
The lawmaker assured that every community in Ideato requiring electricity infrastructure would be covered under the scheme.
