VeryDarkMan Clarifies Military Comment, Says Apology Was Misinterpreted

Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has denied claiming that the entire Nigerian military is corrupt.

VDM made the clarification following the backlash that trailed his speech at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) 66th Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

According to him, his apology to the military was not an admission that he made the statement attributed to him, but was based on how his comments were interpreted.

He stressed that there was never a time or place where he described the entire military as corrupt, and that his apology should not be taken as acceptance of the claims made by the woman who challenged him at the conference.

In his words:
“Let me clear the air on this. I apologise to the military, not because I said what the woman claimed I said, but because of how she interpreted it. There was never a time or place where I said the entire military was corrupt. My apology does not mean I accepted what the lady said.”
VDM also referenced Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, alleging that insecurity persists in the country because some people benefit from it.

The incident happened after a military representative at the NBA conference demanded evidence following VDM’s corruption allegation, prompting his clarification and apology.

His latest explanation has since generated mixed reactions online.
