Beckham Hails Messi: “Your Legacy Will Live Forever”
Former England captain David Beckham has paid a glowing tribute to Lionel Messi, saying the Argentine legend’s “legacy will live forever” following his retirement from international football.

Messi, 39, announced on Monday that he has brought the curtain down on his illustrious career with Argentina after earning 207 caps and scoring 125 goals.

The 2022 World Cup winner played his final game for his country in Argentina’s World Cup final defeat to Spain in July. His brilliance for both Argentina and Barcelona cemented his place as one of the greatest players of all time.

Beckham, who has witnessed Messi’s journey closely both as a former opponent and now as co-owner of his current club, Inter Miami, shared his tribute on Instagram on Tuesday.

“This is the moment we get to look back on and realise how grateful we were to witness the greatness of a young kid with a dream,” Beckham wrote.

“Leo, you have been a credit to yourself, your family, your friends and your country. Leading by example and creating inspiration for millions of children not just in Argentina but around the whole world.

“Leo, you delivered the greatest gift to your country and, for that, your legacy will live forever. Congratulations on all you achieved for Argentina.”
