Transfer Deadline: Enzo Fernández Completes Man City Move, Chelsea Loan Out Sanchez, Mudryk, Fofana Joins Sunderland
Manchester City wrapped up their summer business in style on deadline day, completing the signing of Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernández from Chelsea for a British record-equalling £125m fee.

The 25-year-old, who posted a farewell message to Chelsea on social media an hour before confirmation, has signed a five-year deal that will keep him at the Etihad until 2031. The move makes Fernández the first player in history to move for over £100m twice.

Fernández said he was joining City for a new challenge and to continue winning trophies.
“I could not be happier to be here, and I am ready for the challenge of helping City continue winning trophies. This is a club built for success,” Fernández said.
“If you look across the squad, City have quality in every area. I want to learn from my new teammates and become a better player.”
City’s Director of Football Hugo Viana described him as a complete midfielder and said his mentality and technical quality will improve the squad. He will also reunite with manager Enzo Maresca, whom he previously worked under at Chelsea.

Sanchez leaves Chelsea on loan

Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has left Stamford Bridge on a season-long loan to Italian side Como. Sanchez joined Chelsea from Brighton in August 2023 and made 112 appearances, winning the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup.

Mudryk reunites with De Zerbi

Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk also secured a season-long loan move to work again with Roberto De Zerbi.
“It’s a great feeling. I can’t wait to start training and playing for the Club, and I’m so excited to be reunited with Roberto De Zerbi,” Mudryk said.
Fofana moves to Sunderland

Sunderland completed the signing of Belgian winger Malick Fofana from Lyon on a long-term deal. The 21-year-old made 82 appearances for Lyon with 18 goals and 6 assists.

Sunderland’s Director of Football Florent Ghisolfi said: “Malick has all the attributes to thrive in the Premier League. He is a player with huge potential.”

Other deadline deals
• Crystal Palace signed Netherlands international Quinten Timber on a deal until 2031. • Jack Grealish will spend another season on loan at Everton after his loan from Manchester City was renewed.
The Premier League summer window officially closed at midnight on Tuesday.
