Carolyna Hutchings Exits Real Housewives of Lagos, Says Cast Members Were Never Her Friends
Nollywood actress and producer Carolyna Hutchings has officially bowed out of The Real Housewives of Lagos after four years on the franchise.

In a lengthy Instagram post shared on Monday, Hutchings announced she was closing the chapter for good, stating that despite years of on-screen interaction, none of her co-stars were ever truly her friends off-camera.

“It is exhausting being part of a reality TV show in Nigeria,” she wrote, lamenting that a show which stopped filming new episodes in early 2025 has continued to define her public image into 2026. She appealed to the public and bloggers to stop linking her to the ongoing drama involving other cast members.

Hutchings, who describes herself as an introvert, clarified that whatever closeness viewers perceived was not genuine friendship. “None of the cast members is my friend,” she stated, adding that her kindness should not be mistaken for friendship, and that she naturally connects with people outside the show whose energy resonates with hers.

She also noted that the show was increasingly being used to redefine her publicly — affecting her career, private life, and identity as a mother. “The show was a chapter of my life that I enjoyed. That chapter is closed. It is a new dawn,” she wrote.

Hutchings was part of the original cast when the Showmax reality series premiered in April 2022 alongside Iyabo Ojo, Laura Ikeji-Kanu, Chioma Ikokwu, Toyin Lawani-Adebayo and Mariam Timmer. She sat out Season 2 before returning for Season 3, which moved to Africa Magic in January 2025.

The actress, who has spent two decades in Nollywood with over 60 films and several award-winning projects through her company Afrivista Films, said she is now shifting focus fully back to acting and production, with 10 new film projects currently in development.
