Gov Alia Defends Benue Bread Price Cut: “As They Sell Bread For ₦2k Elsewhere, We Have Cut Down Price”
Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has explained the reasoning behind his administration’s decision to reduce the price of bread and transportation costs in the state.

Speaking on efforts to ease the rising cost of living for residents, Governor Alia said his government deliberately intervened to make basic necessities more affordable.
“As they are selling bread for ₦2,000 in other places, we have cut down the price so that you people can afford bread to eat,” the governor said.
Governor Alia also spoke on his administration’s plan to establish medium-scale factories across Benue, describing it as a strategic move to boost the state’s economy.
“When people say we are building medium factories, the answer is yes, it’s a plan and wisdom,” he added.
The governor’s remarks have since sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some Nigerians questioning why a bread price reduction is being presented as a major achievement, while others commended the initiative as a needed relief for the people.
