Nnadi Rejects Surgery to Fast-Track Marseille Comeback
Super Eagles midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi has decided against undergoing immediate knee surgery as he pushes for a quick return to action for Olympique Marseille.

The Nigerian international picked up the injury shortly after coming on as a second-half substitute during Marseille’s Ligue 1 clash with Monaco. He was forced off just minutes later, with Neal Maupay introduced to replace him.

Following medical assessment after the game, doctors reportedly advised Nnadi to have surgery right away to fix the problem. However, after several days of deliberations, the 22-year-old has opted for a more conservative treatment route in hopes of shortening his time on the sidelines.

His agent, Timur Daguev, confirmed the decision in an interview with La Provence.

“After Nnadi’s injury, we spent several days discussing with the doctors, the team and his entourage to determine the best decision to make. Many advised him to have surgery immediately,” Daguev said.

“That was undoubtedly the safest option, but it also meant being away from the field and the team for several months. We made a different decision.”

Daguev added that the player is motivated by loyalty to the club and the trust shown in him by the coach.

“He cannot abandon the club at a time like this. He cannot remain a spectator when he knows he can still fight and help his teammates, the coach and the fans during this difficult period. Since his arrival, the coach has believed in Nnadi. He has trusted him and supported him. He feels he must contribute right now,” he added.

Nnadi will now commence a conservative recovery programme, with hopes that he can return to full fitness without a lengthy spell out.
