Why Premier League Clubs Missed Out on Osimhen – Andy Cole
Former Manchester United striker, Andy Cole, has weighed in on why Victor Osimhen is yet to make a move to the Premier League despite years of interest.

Osimhen, who has been linked with Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea, has proven his goalscoring pedigree across Europe – from Charleroi to Lille, Napoli where he fired the club to the 2022/23 Serie A title with 31 goals, and now Galatasaray where he has scored 65 goals in 78 appearances.

Speaking in an interview with GOAL, Cole said the Nigerian international has all it takes to succeed in England, but noted that transfers are more complex than just fees and wages.
“He does. He scores goals. He scored goals in Italy and he’s scoring goals in Turkey as well,” Cole said. “But, you know, it depends. There are many different factors in signing a player from a respective country. It’s not all about just the salary or the transfer fee. There could be many different things that go on. If he does come to the Premier League, which I think he will be very good at, you never know who he’ll go to.”
The comments come amid continued calls from former United stars for the club to sign Osimhen. Patrice Evra recently described him as the perfect striker for United, while Louis Saha pointed to his goalscoring record and Champions League experience as key reasons to pursue the 27-year-old.

Despite the endorsements, United opted to sign Benjamin Sesko as their main striker, while Osimhen remains contracted to Galatasaray. Premier League interest, however, is expected to return in future windows.
